TRIA Laser Hair Removal SystemReviewsWe purchased the Tria last month, and I've already noticed hairs falling out... You can tell which ones were killed off because they will look stunted next to the other hairs as they are growing out, and if you can pull them right out without plucking (the roots are dead, they just slide out after a couple of weeks). I'm focusing right now on my armpits, crazy chin hairs (they're growing in on a scar, I'm not a yeti!). The chin hairs were the easiest to eliminate, and haven't grown back yet. I turned this bad boy up to the full-strength-setting right off the bat, I'd rather have to deal with a stronger zap up front and fewer sessions, instead of being a wimp and having to do it more often. Don't waste the zaps. I shaved really closely before I used the Tria, because the darker the hair, and longer, the more you feel the zap. Plus the instructions tell you to shave closely to make zapping more comfortable. I have pale skin and dark hair (still not a yeti), and have't had any trouble with the system. Activation sounds like it would be difficult, but it's super fast & easy and you can do it all online. I'm really happy with the system so far, and hopefully once I get around to treating my legs I'll be able to stop stealing those really nice razors my husband buys for himself. He didn't even hesitate when I pitched the system by telling him I would be able to leave his razors alone (which means his razors won't rip off his face when I sneak them back into his stuff after shaving my legs). It's a win-win! His razors aren't cheap, either. have bin using the tria device for seven months and it has not removed one single hair! ive bin using it 2 month for seven months nothing and i am the perfect candidate its bin the most frustrating expirance ever in my entire life! I have very pale nearly seethru white skin and thick straight black hair. One month i even did it three times just out of the sure hope that something would happen but it never did! I always had it on setting 2 and after the second month a huge chicken pox like rash appeared everywhere I used it yet no hair came out. The professionals a tria kept advising me to keep with it and it would eventually fall out and not to worry. To this day I can not get rid of the rash. And now im in a worst boat that i started in I have thick ichy hair in places i dont want and a rash to go with it. 14 treatments and no positive results at all! I have spent more on the dermatologists trying to get rid of the rash than I did with tria. And now seven months later ive had to fight my way just to get a refund. And now I have to pay shipping on top of that just to get a refund! Really I didnt even want a refund i just wanted my hair to be gone by now as promised. But I certainly didnt expect to pay more money to find another solution at this point at time it was unthinkingable ill send pictures to anyone thats interested if anyone else is having this please tell me if you have found a cure thanx! my email is spec.tech.ular1@gmail.com look foward to hear from you So far so good. I have been using the TRIA for 4 weeks now and have already noticed a difference on my legs and underarms. I will certainly keep at it to be hair-free by summer! First, I have only been using the Tria for about 1 1/2 months. I bought this for my legs and other areas because I have very dark hair that grows at a lightning speed and I also get razor burn with more frequent shaving no matter how much I spend on quality razors and shaving gel. Anyways, I couldn't afford to get my legs done in a center so after doing a lot of research I decided to invest in a Tria. According to the instructions, you aren't supposed to see any results until at least the second month. To my surprise, I believe I am already seeing results. The hair seems to be growing in less dense and slower already. However it definitely is no where close to being hair-free yet. Tria instructions do state you wont see visible reduction until after 3 months and that you wont see permanent results until 8 months. So I am happy that after only 1 1/2 months I am noticing some improvement. So far, the pros are the amazingly low cost compared to going to a center (it would be thousands of dollars to get this done at a center) and it seems to be working so far. It is less painful to me than laser in an office. I immediately started using Tria on the highest setting on my legs. It is moderately painful for me, but for anyone who has done waxing, electrolysis, or laser already, it really isn't that bad. The negative side is that it really is time consuming for large areas like the legs. If you overlap like you're supposed to, it would take 3 charges to do 1 lower leg (sometimes I cheat and get 1 lower leg done in 2 charges). What happens is that after so many pulses the battery needs to be recharged. So because you have to treat the area every other week for the 1st three months, if you do a large area of your body, like the legs, expect to need to stick around home on those weekends and invest a lot of time into doing the Tria. It really takes the whole weekend plus say monday and tuesday after work to get my full legs and bikini done. However, its not like you're spending this entire amount of time doing tria. It takes about 20-30 minutes for each treatment and then 3 hours in between treatments to charge the battery. The other pro is that it is REALLY easy to use. It is pretty much fool proof. So far I am impressed, but unfortunately won't know 100% for sure until probably a few more months if the Tria really does provide permanent hair removal. However, because its been recommended by Good Housekeeping and countless other magazines, I am fairly confident that it will be worth it. Average Rating:![]() |

The Idiot Girl and the Flaming Tantrum of Death: Reflections on Revenge, Germophobia, and Laser Hair RemovalReviewsPretty much Reader's Digest-level "wacky" observations from a middle aged lady. WAY too many dog stories. No lie, of the 12 or so stories probably 4 of them are about her dog. Not unfunny enought to stop me from finishing it; not funny enough to recommend. I admit, the wacky title is what caught my eye, but this is one of the funniest collections of articles I've ever read. Not only did I laugh out loud, but I imagined hearing the voices of all my girlfriends laughing with me. Consequently I began buying Laurie Notaro books for all my friends to enjoy. Not only is Notaro wildly funny, but her prose can turn on a dime and make you cry with her as well. I'm a latecomer to the Laurie Notaro fan club, but when writing is this good, it's better late than never. Notaro's latest collection of essays deserves to be slowly savored. Though perhaps not her best work, it is just as hilarious, literally laugh-out-loud funny (and sometimes quite moving), as her other collections. Notaro describes freakish events and equally freakish characters--both of which are all too familiar to any occupant of planet Earth--from being bombed with bird crap after finally scoring a meal to the horrors of cruise-line meals, from the sadness of selling her house in a "craptastic" neighborhood, to the joys of moving to a hippie-infested college town. Notaro's descriptive prose is utter genius in capturing the oddities of life, and she is the uncontested queen of the riotous simile. I pray she never runs out of material (though that is impossible in this world), and never, ever stops writing. Particularly as this is the last one I hadn't devoured. Oh, well, guess I'll just have to reread the others. Grade: A+ I had to do a little research on the author after reading this boring yet maddening collection of essays. I was wondering whether she was a lot older than me, since she seemed to be doing whatever she could to paint herself as an over-the-hill, frumpy, crass perimenopausal hag. From revealing her habit of pooping every morning with the bathroom door open (and making a loud joke out of it to her poor husband) to mentioning at every turn how much hair is popping up on her face, the stories from this author often had me cringing in total gag-me-with-a-spoon mode. And her husband, who I mostly feel sorry for, added to the vomit-ous theme by revealing his own close encounter with raw sewage. I don't find this kind of material humorous, and with the exception of one well-written piece about tired cliches, the book was an exercise in ennui and mediocre writing. What great fun! I love her imagination and real life views. Notaro seems like the friend you have with all the best stories most of which are unbelievable and unless you were there. Laurie Notaro puts the word "fun" into reading. So if you want to laugh out loud and smile when you read, this is a book for you. Average Rating:![]() |

Laurie Notaro has an uncanny ability to attract insanity–and leave readers doubled over with laughter. In The Idiot Girl and the Flaming Tantrum of Death, she experiences the popular phenomenon of laser hair removal (because at least one of her chins should be stubble-free); bemoans the scourge of the Open Mouth Coughers on America’s airplanes; welcomes the newest ex-con (yay, a sex offender!) to her neighborhood; and watches, against her own better judgment, every Discovery Health Channel special on parasites and tapeworms that has ever aired–resulting in an overwhelming fear that a worm the size of a python will soon come a-knocking on her back door... |

Winning The Battle Against Unwanted Hair GrowthReviewsWhoever edited this book did a horrible job. Some of the testimonials were placed in twice, and you would see mistakes of repetitiveness. You can see the marginal and text area errors as well. It sticks out that bad. The pictures in the book are not good enough to be seen for before and afters. I am not sure if this person is a real person... let alone had a real companies that she is CEO/CFO for. Her websites don't even work at all. The publisher of the book doesn't exist either. I will not recommend this book to anyone. Period. I have suffered for many years from excessive hair growth. I purchased this book to not only figure out how to get rid of the hair growth, but also to find out WHY I have this problem. I finally have solutions to my problem. I am very thankful it was written in language I can understand. I have since shared this book with close friends that I know would appreciate it. Hair growth, especially in women is something many women don't want to talk about - but this book takes out the taboo. THANK YOU! Written in plain terms for lay readers by certified electrologist and medical laser technician Laura M. Regan, Winning the Battle Against Unwanted Hair Growth is far more than cosmetic guide - in addition to weighing the pros and cons of different hair removal methods, Regan also explores hormonal imbalance and other serious health problems that can cause excessive hair growth in women, and stresses that removing the hair itself is not as important as identifying such conditions (if one is present) and receiving proper treatment. Of course, the natural hormonal changes caused by menopause or other factors can lead to excess unwanted hair as well. Winning the Battle Against Unwanted Hair Growth is not just for women; men can also have extreme unwanted hair growth, and a chapter is devoted especially to men in this unfortunate situation. Packed with no-nonsense information about hair removal methods ranging from shaving to depilatories to electrolysis and more, Winning the Battle Against Unwanted Hair Growth is highly recommended as a first-rate, professional's-eye-view of its subject.
