Braun SE3170 Silk-épil SoftPerfection EpilatorReviewsI shared a Philips ice epilator with my sister before this one (which was really great), but when I moved to U.S. I bought Braun SE3170 Silk-épil SoftPerfection Epilator. Initially I was looking for one with ice, but could not find any appropriate offered at the time. This, however, works well for me and I guess price-wise is also a good deal. It is small, light (in case you want to take it for travel), easy to use and works for both 110 and 220 V (might be important to Europeans like me). I have used the Braun Epilator for years, my old one got dropped and broke. No fault of the product. The new one works great and I was pleased with the service. I've never tried an epilator before, but I wanted a hair removal method that wouldn't compromise the tan that I spent so much time and money developing. This product had great reviews, so I tried it. And it was great! It is simple to use, and not very painful. My underarms and legs stay smooth for many days, and I even use it on my bikini area. (But beware, the bikini area hurts very much!!!) The results are totally smooth, and my tan legs remain tan after epilating. Great product. I purchased this model as a replacement for my trusted 6-years-old Braun Silk Epil SuperSoft plus epilator, which still works fine but cannot handle US power supply outlets (I have just moved here from Europe). This newer version is not up to par with the old one, alas. The noise from the engine makes it utterly unpleasant to use, whereas the old one was tolerable. I also noticed it scratches the skin a little more than the old one did, and I attribute it to the type of plastic used in the casing: the old one had a somewhat soft plastic casing and rollers, this one has very hard plastic parts. Nevertheless, it does the job I expect it to do: removes most hair long enough to be mechanically removed in minimum time and with acceptable levels of pain (I use it on my legs, underarms and bikini). Wax does as good a job as far as removing, but it is silent and more gentle on the skin. It takes a lot longer and is messy though, so I use both systems: the epilator most of the time or for regular maintenance, and waxing every now and then to start anew. Since I am lucky enough to still have my old epilator, I will use it with the power cord provided with the new one (it works, I have tried). That's a bit pricey for a simple power cord + adapter, hence the 3 stars. After tweezing my underarms since puberty, I decided to finally buy an epilator. After reading many reviews, I decided on this one and I'm glad I did! Although it was my first time epilating and I was terrified of the moving parts and loud noise of the Braun, it actually did not hurt at all but that might be because I've been tweezing for so long and am immune to pain in that area. This product is really great, it gets the hairs out quickly and easily. You have to hold the skin taught and like another reviewer here, I had to do some tricky maneuvering. The reason this rating is only 4 stars instead of 5, is because some hairs are not pulled out at the root and are just pinched off at the surface of the skin. However, I really recommend buying this product!! Average Rating:![]() |

Emjoi AP-18 Emagine Dual Opposed 72 Tweezer Head EpilatorReviewsOf all the things on my daily personal maintenance list, shaving my legs is at the top. I can't stand the stubble as it rubs against my pants, and my husband gets a little queasy if the hair on my legs is longer than his buzz-cut head. As women, I think we've all played around with epilators, and the love/hate division is right down the middle. Of all the epilators out there, the eMagine by Emjoi has the most aggressive design, including 72 tweezing elements that Emjoi boasts is the most on the market. While I never look forward to "epilator night," I keep telling myself that six weeks' worth of smooth legs is worth the discomfort. The eMagine is efficient and feels like an epilator feels--there's no getting around that. The eMagine is comfortable in the hand, glides easily across the skin, and has two power settings for fine or coarser hair. The eMagine is not rechargeable and must be plugged in to operate. The blade housing can be removed from the unit, and I clean it with keyboard air-based cleaner. As far as epilators go, the eMagine is a tough machine and should provide the user with 6 weeks of shave-free strutting. My dad got this epilator for my mom and me to try and I was very excited to get it. After using other hair remover products (without success)I was hoping this would work but was not sure. I just happened to stumble across the emjoi one day on amazon. I didn't even know epilators existed until now. First yes it is a little pricey but it is worth it. Second is it painful? YES! I am sure some people can use it without it hurting but for most people it will probably heart. Wen we first got it in the mail I thought I would just deal with the pain and it would be worth it. Well wen I turned it on that was a different story. It spins very fast and is loud. It toke me a few minutes to put it on my leg and wen I finely did....... Well lets just say IT HURT! The pain is bearably if you do a little and then stop. And as for the underarms. Well it took me a day to get up the nerve and after a quick prayer I turned it on and inched it to my underarm. Wen I finally did it I was surprised. It barely hurt compered to the legs. And it got 99% percent of the hair. It misted a couple that were at the skins surface but I can get them later. As for my legs it got 90% of the hair. Like I sad there are some hairs that I will get later wen they grow in. Overall this is a grate produced and worth the money. It is painful on the legs but I hear that it gets less painful every time you use it. The underarms are bearable (allot better than the legs). It is pricey but well worth it. Overall a grate by and I am so happy that I don't have to shave anymore. I bought it for my wife.It gives some pain and moreover she had to go at least 3-4 times to each place to completely get rid of the hairs. All in all just ok. I have MRSA and bought this based on the silver technology. The tweezers DO NOT pull as efficiently as I hoped nor does this thing leave my legs soft. My legs are all stubly (if that's a word) and I would rather let my hair grow out rather than feel my prickly legs! Bummer... I was hoping this epilator would be my "cure" to shaving since I can't any longer... I will keep searching for the right epilator to make my legs soft and smooth. I have another epilator and have used it for a number of years, I wanted one that does the job faster. This one does the job much, much faster. This is the one to buy. No complaints with it at all. Clean + Easy Deluxe Electrolysis Home (For Coarse Hair)ReviewsGot this as a Christmas gift and couldn't wait to get started. Followed the instructions verbatum. Several times. Even had a friend of mine who does this at her job in a beauty sallon. Both of our opinions is that this product is a waste of money. Just save up and get treatments from a pro. product works. requires practice and lots of patience. electrolysis is the only recognized form of permanent hair removal. Never go above 4, even with coarse thick hair. better to repeat treatment than to damage skin. hair follicle contains more than one hair often or regenerates so process is slow. also the product is the same as it has been for over 30 years. manufacturer needs to update process to make it easier and faster. perhaps, a pen that is not attached to the unit and is self-contained to allow more freedom of movement. current method very primitive. make sure you use sterile method-wash hands, clean area with alcohol and use antibiotic ointment after. scar cream good to use also. protect and heal skin. ice pack good to reduce swelling and speed healing from the heat damage. raw shea butter, vitamin E cream good moisturizers for everyday -2 times per day after the antibiotic ointment no longer needed. ladies, keep make-up clean and replace as needed. wash brushes frequently and do not use any make-up for 48 hours after treatment. the fact that it could take forever to use this product and get results is ok for me, but it didn't work for me at all. First of all, you have to use a salt water solution to enable the electric circuit, and this is a huge pain in the butt. maybe i wasn't doing it right because I hardly ever felt any of the laser shock that you are supposed to feel, even on the highest setting. I felt it a few times but the hair didn't come out effortlessly as it should when the hair follicle dies. so needless to say, I got no results, tried to use it many times, spent a lot of saltwater, and now I'm going to look for a product that actually works if I spend a little more money for it. It,s a great tool for maintanance purpose. It works good even on course hair. The user should have understanding how to apply the needle towards the root, and to follow the instructions. I can highly recommend I ordered this & it was shipped quickly enough, but it's a cheap little battery operated thing that should of cost $10.00. You have to insert a little plastic needle into the hair follicle which is near impossible. The unit didn't work even with the power turned up full blast. I didn't return it because I'd already tossed the box. Don't bother Average Rating:![]() |

Principles and Practice of Electrical Epilation, Third EditionReviewsAs one of the most recent publications on professional epilation, it was up-to-date and well written. There are a number of chapters to do with running a business in Great Britain which are of no value to those operating elsewhere and chapters regarding general first aid and marketing which are not necessary. Otherwise, I found it a very good text, easy to read and comprehend. Average Rating:![]() |

Water Car - How to Turn Water Into Hydrogen Fuel!Reviewsgreat book-- good service every body should read then every body's medical bill would go down and health go up If you want to see a pretty straight-forward history of the quest to create a water-powered engine, this assemblage of essays and historical information is a nice work. However, this is not a how-to manual. It's a how-it's-been-tried manual. Got this for my husband to read and explore if we can get it to work with a small engine then we'll be more daring with an actual car! Even if it doesn't work the book makes a very interested table book and conversation piece. I ordered this book from Mr. Robey and I found it very helpful in understanding the history of water/hydrogen technologies throughout history from the first electrolyzer to the descriptions of more recent developments. This is a REALLY cool book that I highly recommend to anybody interested in this re-surfacing technology. This book contains vast resources relating to the production of hydrogen gas from water. This book will save you thousands of hours of research. James Robey has done what most are afraid to do. He has released information that the government does not want you to know. Do not be fooled by the government. There are alternative fuels that are pollution free and could ultimately reverse our continually growing pollution problem. The book also comes with an informative DVD that show various methods of hydrogen gas production. Free yourself from the bonds of misinformation and suppression. Average Rating:![]() |

Women and Unwanted HairReviewsA nice idea because very little is written on this topic; however, the author falls short and makes some very biased and uncited claims. It appears to me that it is self-published because no reputable publishing house would touch something so unsubstantiated and unreferenced. For instance, Rosenthal states that, "Pubic hair protects your vulva from bacterial infections by blocking what can get in." What a bunch of nonsense! She also encourages readers to use 'crisco' or 'mineral oil' to clean your vulva. Whoa! I could go on and on and give numerous examples - but will leave it up to you to decide. It has some good info, but is way too small! If you want a general idea about different hair removal techniques get it. They need an updated version to cover the newer hair removal techniques. Women afflicted with excess hair because of hormonal problems will find this book especially useful, since about a third of the book deals with hormone treatments (including contraceptives) as a treatment. However, there's a wealth of information for the reader who is merely interested in the various hair-removal options: > An overview chapter summarizes all the methods of hair removal (including a couple I'd never heard of) and the best areas for each method. > There's a separate and detailed chapter on electrolysis that discusses what to expect in terms of results and costs, how painful it is, and safety factors. > Laser treatment also gets its own chapter, with a realistic assessment of costs and results. > The author even tackles the generally-taboo subject of pubic hair removal: why it's currently in fashion, the best methods, and who should avoid this. > Unique to the subject is the author's final chapter: the psychological effects of excess or unwanted body hair. Whenever the author presents scientific material (for example, on how the hair is structured and grows), she does so in a clear, understandable way. Though the book isn't long, it's packed with information and answered every question I had on hair removal and presented some facts I'd never seen elsewhere. I found it invaluable in making a decision about pursuing either electrolysis or laser treatment. I have polycystic ovarian syndrome and for years I've been battling a really horrible side-effect: hair on my face! I've used all the hair removal products out there and it is an ongoing battle for me and many PCOS sufferers I know. Women and Unwanted Hair is a great book. It explains why this hair growth happens for all the hormonal reasons, and then step by step explains how to get rid of it! Most of all, having this book is comforting because it makes me feel like I'm not all alone with this problem. The advice is straightforward. This problem isn't going to go away, but because of this book, I've decided to look into electrology as a solution. Average Rating:![]() |
